Evil City Film Fest Manifesto
As we gear up for the second annual Evil City Film Fest, we want to send out our appreciation to those who were there for us in our illustrious and astoundingly successful first year. When we decided to roll the dice by adding yet another festival to the already saturated landscape of the NYC film community, never had we imagined that we would have come so close to our goal. From the get-go, all we wanted to do is establish an opportunity for all types of filmmakers to come together, share their work, and take advantage of a real chance to network. Little did we know that we'd have hundreds of submissions from New York, all across the USA, and around the world. Sure enough call was answered and we were fortunate to be bludgeoned with a sick array of even sicker movies…
The sentiment here in the Evil City is simple. Gritty and realistic films, focused on the underbelly of city life, made in the way that those unassociated with true monetary connections only know how. Shoestring budgets, stolen equipment and inspiration derived from the need to tell the story, no matter what.
So here we are, the second ECFF. Ready to gather a new batch of films, some barred or rejected from other standard indie fests. Ready to embrace the stories that mainstream media shuns in favor of commercial interests.
So get in, get going and check out our fest. It's NYC, The East Village, The Evil City Film Fest.
